Saving Money on Your Summer Clothes

When the summer months are approaching, one of the most exciting things is planning out what you’re going to do and what you’re going to wear. However, the cost of new clothing is often expensive, which is why saving money wherever possible can quickly add up. With the savings you make on your summer clothing, you can spend this for extra trips, more summer activities and social events with friends.

  • Make a list of what you need

You should first make a list of everything you need to buy so that you don’t end up with duplications or clothing that you don’t actually need. Shopping around without any sort of list whatsoever will mean that you spend more money which could mean that you waste your hard-earned cash as well as clothing.

  • Shop around

Shopping around for the best deals is always a good idea. You can find great deals on Bohemian clothing online if you take the time to look. Some of these items are great for summer, and you can find beachwear, swimwear and many other types of casual summer items.

  • Ask your friends

Your friends might have clothing that they don’t want anymore, and if you have a best friend who has something that you’ve had your eye on for a while, you could be a little bit cheeky and ask them if they’re done with it. You could approach it from the angle that you’re asking them where they got it and telling them how much they love it, and if you’re the same size and they’re considering getting rid of it, there’s no reason why they shouldn’t suggest to hand it down to you!

  • Try second-hand

Another option to try if you’re looking to save money on clothing is to shop in the second-hand shops or on second-hand websites. Some people aren’t too comfortable with the idea of wearing clothes which other people have been wearing, but if you have no issues with this, there’s a lot of money to be saved by shopping second-hand. You could even find brand new clothing with their tags still on and which have been never worn.

  • Shop as late as possible

When the clothing for summer is first brought out in stores, there aren’t going to be any sales and discounts on these in many cases. If you want to wait and try to find a bargain in the sale, you’ll need to be prepared to wait for quite a while – at least until people have finished their shopping and the fashion shops get a little bit quieter.

  • Modify your existing clothing

If you have winter clothing that you’re not a fan of anymore, you can alter them to make them suitable for summer. For example, you can turn jeans into shorts, and long-sleeved tops into short-sleeved or sleeveless ones. Clothing with fleece lining can be suitable for summer if you remove the lining and the fleece to make it much cooler.
