If you are planning on going to Tenerife for the first time ever then you probably know all about the great weather and the beaches. Lots of people travel here throughout the year because of the fantastic weather conditions and the chance of a trip to the beach. However, there is a lot more to this place than just those attractions.
See the Whales and Dolphins
A boat trip out to see some of the wildlife is a great idea for anyone looking to enjoy something a bit different in the Tenerife. You won’t need to look too hard to find a tour company offering to take you out on the water and trips vary from just a couple of hours to half day excursions. Some of them let you jump in the water for a swim in the warm waters as part of the trip. The waters off the south west of the island are considered one of the very best places on the planet to see dolphins and whales, and certainly the best in Europe. There are different times of year when you will find plenty of dolphins and whales here, so it is worth checking the possibilities of seeing some when you plan to travel
Play Golf
A big incentive for people taking the likes of Monarch holidays in the winter months is the chance to play a round of golf in the sun. If you love playing golf but don’t like shivering in the cold or playing in the rain or snow then this could be a wonderful alternative. A few rounds of golf in pleasant weather can also be a fine way of getting some exercise when you have been sitting around in the house for the last couple of months due to the cold weather.
Go to the Market
While there are a lot of touristy shops and restaurants around the Tenerife area it is also nice to check out the traditional markets. The Mercado de Nuestra Señora de Africa in Santa Cruz de Tenerife is well worth passing some time in. There is a big selection of fruit and vegetables for sale here, among other things. Anyone boarding their Monarch flights to Tenerife thinking that they would like to sample some of the local culture will enjoy doing some shopping and people watching here.
See the Sights
While sitting on the beach and looking out to the sea is a great thing to do there are other sights in Tenerife well worth seeing. There are several natural parks here which show the richness and variety of nature to be found in the Canary Islands. For example, the Parque Nacional del Teide showcases the highest and most exciting mountain in Spain. If you stick to the areas around the coast you will undoubtedly have a great time in Tenerife. However, by going inland to check out this park or maybe the stunning Parque Rural de Teno you will see a different side of the island and get some amazing memories along the way.
