What Would You Do in the Turks & Caicos Islands?

The mere mention of some travel destinations is enough to set the mind racing with images of exotic cities and famous monuments. However, there are other places which you maybe don’t know all that much about.

For example, the Turks and Caicos Islands is an exciting sounding place but what would you do there? The good news is that a little bit of investigation shows that this is a group of islands which has plenty to offer the tourists who spend some time there.

The Diving

If you are a fan of diving then there is a good chance that you already know something about this place. It is regarded as one of the beat destinations in the world for this sport because of the warm, clear waters, the sea life population and the long coral reef, which is one of the longest to be found anywhere on the planet. If diving is something you are interested in doing then you certainly won’t be disappointed with the opportunities to do so in the Turks & Caicos Islands. As well as diving you will find opportunities to carry out other water sports as well, which makes it a great destination if you want to stay active without getting too carried away with it. Spending some time in the water will let you have a great time while enjoying a bit of welcome exercise as well.

The Music and Culture

The Turks & Caicos Music and Cultural Festival is a relatively new annual event which has proven to be extremely popular since starting out in 2003. This is a mixture of big name music stars and local culture which celebrates Caribbean music in all of its styles, with reggae music rubbing shoulders with hip hop, R&B and a lot more. The action takes place in the Downtown Ballpark in Grand Turk for a week or so at the end of July or beginning of August. If you like the sound of this event then you will be pleased to discover that summer is a low season in the islands, with lower cost deals often available. Another popular type of music here is the unique ripsaw music which has its home in the islands. It is an interesting sound and if you are lucky enough to visit when the annual festival is on then it would make sense to head along and see what the fuss is about.

Relax and Eat Well

A travel destination as idyllic as this is ideal for relaxing and getting away from the stresses and strains of everyday life. Perhaps this is why so many big stars from the US have either vacationed here or else bought property here in recent years. For example, Bruce Willis has a home here and Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner got married here. However, it isn’t all about relaxing on the beach and star spotting. There is also a great food scene in the Turks and Caicos Islands which is centered on the island of Providenciales. This was named as the best beach destination in the world in a survey a couple of years ago, so you are sure to find plenty to do as you enjoy the sun and the warm waters.
